2023 Enfants PerdusItalian varieties co-fermented
Say hello to the “Lost Children” of our vineyard. A Co-Fermented Table Wine, these kids go by the names of Grignolino, Freisa, Sagrantino, Nero d’Avola, Arneis. It's a collection of our Italian misfits who have traveled far and wide to make a fresh start under our watchful care. They have brought us a new wine made from a collection of experimental plantings at Rorick Heritage Vineyard, gifted by friends and enemies. You know who you are! The performance of these vines over a period of time on our unique site determines if we continue to grow a particular variety, or expand the planting on a larger scale. But for now, as they are getting to know their new home in California, we ferment them all together in one big vessel. A slow, cool ferment allows everyone to integrate their distinguishing varietal characteristics to create something entirely unique and otherwise not possible through individual ferments. Hooray for co-ferments!
And don't feel limited by our 'Table Wine' designation. We certainly made the Enfants for your table, but it is capable of so much more! Low abv, crowd pleasing, a chilled snappy thirst quencher or satisfying food partner. She’s giving versatility for warm summer days by offering a cocktail of orange bitters and sweet ripe strawberries. A basketful of lush red plums balance crunchy starfruit with a tart raspberry finish. Dynamic? Hella. There's a lot going on up in this wine, and we are chomping at the bit to take her out to our favorite swimming hole in the Sierras this summer.
